Can AI assistants find my business?

To check whether an AI assistant can find your business, ask it the question your customers ask ("best plumber in Austin") with web search on, see whether it names you, and check that robots.txt does not block search and AI crawlers; SiteScore's Standard audit does this for 3 questions for $35.

What AI assistants read

With web search on, AI assistants pull pages at answer time through their own crawlers, some for a search index and some fetching a page for a user; others crawl for model training. If robots.txt or a firewall blocks them, your pages can't be quoted.

What we saw in our samples

In our 5 sample audits on 2026-10-14, an AI assistant's answer named only 1 of 5 businesses for their category + city question, even though all 5 allowed the AI crawlers. The answers leaned on directories, review sites and 'best of' lists.

What moves the answer

1) Allow the AI crawlers. 2) Put who, what and where in your first 50 words. 3) Add LocalBusiness schema. 4) Get listed on the directories and lists the AI cites for your category (the audit names them). 5) Re-test monthly; answers change.
