AI-search check for Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and Shopify sites

Whatever your platform, AI-search readiness comes down to the same checks (crawler access, text in the HTML, schema, a direct first paragraph), but where you fix them differs: WordPress uses plugins and theme files, Wix and Squarespace use built-in SEO settings, and Shopify edits robots.txt through a theme template.

WordPress

Most of our samples ran WordPress. Typical issues: many render-blocking plugin scripts (Portland Family Dentistry's homepage referenced 79 script and stylesheet files), page-builder headings repeated as multiple H1s, and attachment pages in the sitemap. Fix with an SEO plugin's schema and sitemap settings and by removing unused plugins.

Wix and Squarespace

Both generate sitemaps automatically and let you edit titles and descriptions per page. Check that robots.txt (Wix lets you edit it in SEO settings) doesn't block AI crawlers and that you add structured data through the platform's SEO or code-injection settings.

Shopify

Shopify lets you customise robots.txt via the robots.txt.liquid theme template. Product pages usually have Product schema; check that your store also states who you are and where you ship on the homepage.
